Edition Paratexte
Ann Cottens Schuhe
Art Direction
“Things in literature—those are words. Things don’t quite fit into a book. But now, in a magazine.” In each issue of Edition Paratexte, one object from an author is examined. The first issue is dedicated to Ann Cotten’s shoes, around which texts by Alexander Kluge, Mira Mann, Eckhart Nickel, and others revolve.
The concept, layout, and art direction shape the magazine’s visual identity, creating a design that complements the literary exploration of objects. Edition Paratexte also engages with the concept of paratexts—those peripheral yet essential elements that frame and shape the reading experience, from footnotes and prefaces to dedications.
